Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin, is about to break ground on its first Passive House building, designed by Intep. A ceremony will be held this Thursday, October 3, 2013 in La Crosse (see program below). Fowler and Hammer, Inc. out of La Crosse is the general contractor for this project. Over the next two years, Western faculty and students will work in partnership with Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse Community Foundation, and the Hillview Urban Agriculture Center (HUAC) to transform a residential pocket in La Crosse’s 24th St. Neighborhood. The former HUAC greenhouse and accompanying structures will be deconstructed and removed to make room for three Passive rated, energy efficient homes. This ceremony marks the start of construction on the first home.

Representatives from Western, Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse Community Foundation, and Hillview Urban Agriculture Center; Western students; contractors; and general community members will be invited to attend the event.
